| 9 September 2013 | Reply

WAM are proud to announce 80 nominees in 16 categories for the 2013 WAM Song Of The Year. Now in its 24th year, this prestigious songwriting competition celebrates the best of WA’s songwriting talent, offering more than $35,000 in prizes.

WAM Song Of The Year 2013

With songwriters ranging from WA’s most popular artists to upcoming talents and new discoveries, the wealth of WA’s music talent pool is on display. Winners will be announced at the Awards Night held at the Fly By Night Musicians Club on Wednesday 9 October from 7pm. Hosted by Tomás Ford, the stellar line-up and ticketing details will be announced soon.

The 2013 Grand Prize winner walks away with $3,000 cash, three days recording at Albert Studios in Sydney (engineered by Wayne Connolly), a mentoring session from Albert’s Creative Services Team, a mastering session with James Hewgill Music, 500 CDs pressed by DiskBank, an opportunity for a publishing deal with Perfect Pitch Publishing, a Berklee Music online music course and a RODE microphones package. The winner will also perform at the AGWA Nights finale (opening for Bob Evans) and at the 2014 WAMi Festival happening 6-9 November.

The Mental Health Commission of WA is the competition’s presentation partner and Mentally Healthy category sponsor. This category allows songwriters to share songs dealing with positive messages in relation to mental health. The message this year is ‘Music talks about mental health, so can you’.
