Paul Kelly Spring and Fall tour

THURSDAY JUNE 6, 2013 – Last October Australian singer songwriter PAUL KELLY released his 19th studio album ‘Spring And Fall’. This July and August he will be touring cities and towns around Australia performing the record in its entirety, followed by a generous selection of older songs. This selection will change from night to night and will include well-known songs and a few surprises.

Paul recently said on stage in the USA where he is currently touring to rave reviews: “‘Spring and Fall’ is a song cycle which is just a fancy way of saying – if you listen to the songs in order they tell a story. Each song links to the next and the whole piece is a love story told from multiple points of view.”

The band touring with Paul will be Dan Kelly on guitar and vocals; J. Walker, who co-produced and played on the album; Zoe Hauptmann on bass (who recently performed on the Finn and Kelly tour) and Bree Van Reyk (Holly Throsby, Seeker Lover Keeper) on drums.

Tickets for all shows on sale at 9am Friday June 14.

My Live Nation members can be among the first to access tickets during the exclusive members’ pre-sale beginning 9am this Tuesday, June 11. Head to www.livenation.com.au to register.

Australian Music Prize Nominee, Hip Hop MC and Producer, URTHBOY, will be opening the show each night. Paul and Urthboy first worked together in 2008, when Urthboy reworked Paul and Kev Carmody’s song From Little Things Big Things Grow to celebrate Kevin Rudd’s apology to the Stolen Generations. More recently they have collaborated on a cover of the Hunters and Collectors song True Tears Of Joy.

Urthboy’s most recent album ‘Smokey’s Haunt’ has been celebrated for its storytelling with 4 and 5 star reviews across the board and his live show promises to be an intriguing part of each night’s entertainment.

What the international media are saying about ‘Spring And Fall’,

Austin Chronicle USA): “A song cycle reflecting the rise and fall of a romance, it’s understated yet engaging, melancholy yet revealing – something only a master like Kelly can accomplish.”

Boston Globe (USA): “Kelly is one of the world’s most expressive and economical songwriters, one of the world’s best, period.”

Popdose (USA): “Paul Kelly is a national treasure; it’s just a shame he’s not our nation’s to claim.”

The Mirror (UK): “…He never loses the attention of the listener, which is a resounding confirmation of his sharply intelligent, heart-tugging talent.”

Mojo (UK): “…a singer-songwriter amongst the greatest of his – or any other generation.”

Americana (USA): “All good songwriters are not afraid to re-interpret their songs, change them around, play them differently. That’s what makes a good song; it can be whatever they want it to be at that particular time and it still stands up on its own. Kelly is the undisputed master of this.”
