DAVID GUETTA AND DANCEON PARTNER UP TO CELEBRATE THE MULTICULTURAL DANCERS IS HIS “PLAY HARD” VIDEO!
(Los Angeles, CA – May 6th, 2013) The world’s leading DJ, David Guetta has partnered with DanceOn, YouTube’s largest dance network to bring fans an in depth look at the making of his music video for new single “Play Hard” featuring Akon and Ne-Yo in mini-docu series ‘The Edge.’ Dancers from Mexico, Colombia and France tell their stories and give personalized accounts of the audition, rehearsal and filming process which took play in Mexico City. The episode of ‘The Edge’ is now live on DanceOn’s channel at http://youtu.be/Ct-gq8BSZiw.
Among the featured dancers who are all extremely passionate about their art are traditional tribaleros group Los Socios, French dancers Les Twins, Columbian classically trained dancer and student Natalie and Mexico City’s own prodigy break-dancer Ariel Ruiz.
“This was a passion project for me and everyone on set,“ said David Guetta. “Music brings people together. Every dancer moved in a unique way but what they all had in common was spirit and a positive approach to the video.”
“I love Mexico, I chose to play on the beach there on NYE this year and the energy was second to none! I also played at Azteca stadium this year and that was one of the best gigs of my career. The diverse culture along with the passionate and beautiful people are so inspiring which is why I chose to have Mexican dancers in the video and to shoot in the Capital City. Each character has a real true story which we filmed and are able to show how they live for their passion in this behind the scenes docu-series. Natalie works hard and dances hard for her passion, the ‘pointy boots crew’ are for real, they live for their passion and Ariel who beat my friends’ Les Twins in the dance of got to see his dream to be in a video come true. He dances all day and got to see how hard work can truly pay off,” continued Guetta.
“The Edge gives us a chance to see how dancers prepare to perform in huge mega label productions, “ said DanceOn CEO, Amanda Taylor.
The “Play Hard” video premiered on VEVO on April 23rd and has already racked up over 10 million times. “Play Hard” is the latest in a string of hits from Guetta’s critically acclaimed ‘Nothing But The Beat.’ “Play Hard” is the fifth and final U.S. single from the 2011 release and follows double-platinum smash “Titanium” featuring Sia. The video is directed by Andreas Nilsson (2 Chainz, Yeasayer and MGMT).
Like the hook from “Play Hard,” Guetta likes to work hard…play hard. Never one to rest on his laurels, he has continued his non-stop DJ tour of the globe. He recently wrapped the South American leg of sold out dates which included playing to 2 million fans in Brazil and also made history by becoming the first DJ to headline a solo show at Mexico’s famous Azteca Stadium. In March, Guetta played two headline shows at ULTRA Music Festival plus his own F*** ME I’M FAMOUS party in Miami. Up next is Asia where he will play the Great Wall of China along with a Hong Kong and Thailand debut. He will return to Europe for his annual summer residency in Ibiza and a European summer tour which includes supporting Rihanna on her U.K and Paris dates.
To date, ‘Nothing But The Beat’ has sold nearly 3.5 million albums and an astonishing 25 million singles worldwide since its release in August, 2011.
