UPON WINGS Featured on SiriusXM Octane’s ‘Women Rock’ Week
This week marked “Women Rock” week on SiriusXM Octane, channel 37, and UPON WINGS was among the great female-fronted bands featured and spun throughout the week. UPON WINGS’ new single, “Afterlife,” was released on Jan. 15th, and the band will be releasing their new EP, Afterlife, March 5th on Sword of the Spirit Records LLC. The EP features guest vocals and production from Brett Hestla (Ex-Creed, Dark New Day).
“It’s such an honor to be a part of SiriusXM Octane’s ‘Women Rock’ week,” frontman Anne Autumn Erickson said. “Octane has such a rich history of delivering genuine, top-notch rock, and it’s the ultimate source for new rock music. Thanks to all at Octane, and thanks to our fans for requesting us!”
Since “Afterlife” hit rock radio, the track has been featured on the likes of WIIL (Chicago), KXXR (Minneapolis), KTCL (Denver), WRKZ (Columbus), WRAT (Monmouth), WKRL (Syracuse), KQXR (Boise), KRDJ (Lafayette), WCPR (Biloxi), KGRR (Dubuque) and beyond.
The single is now available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon.
Afterlife the EP can be pre-ordered now on iTunes.
Rock and metal fans will recognize plenty of names on Afterlife. Kid Rock recording engineer and Grammy-nominated mixing engineer Glenn Brown mastered the single, while Brett Hestla (ex-Creed, Dark New Day) provided guest vocals and production talents. More metal assistance for the upcoming EP came from producer and guitarist Kevin Jardine (Uplift Productions), best known as the guitarist of Canadian nu metal giants Slaves on Dope, formerly on Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne’s Divine Recordings label. Drummer Peter Tzaferis also contributed to the EP.
UPON WINGS combines operatic, female-fronted goth-pop with rousing rock and metal in a unique, ethereal fashion. Frontwoman Anne Autumn Erickson is a classically-trained dramatic mezzo-soprano, and her lyrics take listeners down a path of heartfelt introspection, pain, joy and faith.
