Baby Animals pull out of STONE FEST, ten more acts added

| 20 February 2013 | Reply

Baby Animals’ have pulled out of Sydney’s STONE FEST just days after being added to the bill.  Singer Suze DeMarchi wrote on the band’s Facebook page, that it “all became too difficult, too quickly”. “We hope not to disappoint too many of our supporters with this news,” she wrote, “but it just wasn’t feeling right to us. We will however make it up to you with a brand new single in April, plus a new album (finally) and national tour shortly after.”

This must strike fear into the hearts of hard rock fans when considering that Van Halen’s Soundwave Revolution tour of 2011 fell to pieces without any public explanation.

Stone Music Festival has countered the announcement by adding 10 more local acts onto the bill that already includes Billy Joel and Van Halen.

Jimmy Barnes, Noiseworks, Ian Moss and The Choirboys have joined the Saturday lineup, while Guy Sebastian, Diesel, Mark Seymour, Shannon Noll, Dallas Frasca and Mark Moroney will take to the stage on Sunday.

Earlier this week, rival promoter Andrew McManus – who is bringing the likes of KISS, Guns N’ Roses and The Darkness to Australia over the next few months – warned punters to be wary of “unknown promoters”. But Stone Festival representatives refuted those claims, saying that co-promoter Richard Cartwright has more than 30 years industry experience at the “highest level” of the music industry, and maintaining that all headline acts had been “contracted and paid in full.”

Named after cult 1974 bikie film Stone, the festival will take place over two days – April 20 and 21 – at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium. Other acts on the bill include Buckcherry, Lifehouse, Richie Ramone, Illumination Road and supergroup Kings Of Chaos, featuring ex-members of Guns N’ Roses. Tickets for Stone Festival ($179 for one day, $319 for both) go on sale to the general public this Thursday, February 21.

Promoters have promised another five acts will be added to the lineup over the coming months.
