Bursting forth from your speakers like The Stooges snorting the ashes of Hollywood, Nottingham’s The Hip Priests successfully marry a brutal Detroit garage sound that harkens back to the 60’s with a drug-casualty early 80’s sleaze glam attitude.

Kicking off with the Dead Boys pastiche Sonic Reproducer, this is music to fuck and fight to in filthy back alleys.

Wrist Action and Loud n’ Lewd follow the template – fast and furious, loud and loose, this is “don’t give a fuck” music played by wild-eyed madmen tap dancing on the lip of the volcano – gimme danger, baby, I like it!

Outta My Head Into Your Pants seems a manifesto: a garagier take on the Crystal Pistol sound, whereas Baptised In Booze could almost be classic era Motorhead with Lemmy’s Jack Daniels-gruff vocals replaced by those of the trippier and more psychedelia soaked Nathan Von Cruz.

Through 6 more songs they pout and spit, thrash their guitars, destroy drums and generally make a mess of the place.  There’s nothing pretty about The Hip Priests but they preach the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s gospel according to sex, drugs n’ rock n’ bastard roll in an all-out, full frontal assault on your heathen ears, and the word is good.
