There are certain expectations when you are the child of a musician. Jacob Dylan was expected to climb the wall of fame. Liza Minelli was to soar over the rainbow. Imagine what would have happened if they had two musical parents.

Ben Taylor is in that predicament and seems to fair quite well. The son of James Taylor and Carly Simon has taken what his parent gave him and parlayed it into a really good album. Listening is a great disc to throw on in the background at any gathering and is sure to please most that hear it. It is mellow and rhythmic. The vocals are soothing and strong.

The songs are crafted very well and bring out the best in Ben’s vocals and the musicians that back him on this disc. I love the upbeat flavor of “Giulia” and the enchanting sound of “Worlds Are Made Of Paper.” My favorite is the funk flavored “Oh Brother.” The groove on this track alone is worth listening to the whole disc.

Ben Taylor took the hand he was dealt and created a winning hand with this disc. How sweet is disc, really? The anticipation was worth it in the end.
