Budget, budget, budget… there are plenty of films out there that cannily overcome their budgetary constraints, but sadly Bordello Of Blood seemingly squandered its bucks on a few cheesy set pieces and a robotic crypt master, rather than on a decent script.

There’s some chuckles to be found, but mostly this is aimed squarely at teenage boys: vampires, boobs, appalling gross-out (not so) special effects, and buckets of sticky blood!

The plot is pretty simple: Corey Feldman does his best Charlie Sheen as he and a friend attend a brothel hidden under a mortuary, only to be (are spoilers a thing 22 years after the movie was released?) turned into a vampire by the superhot Angie Everhart.

Corey’s sis, Erika Eleniak, is worried enough to hire PI Rafe Guttman (Dennis Miller) to find poor Corey, and so leads us down a rabbithole of smut and gore and Christian evangelists and… ahhhh, if only they’d spent more on the script – all the elements are there, but they really only work on a ‘so bad it’s good’ level.

Inspired by the Tales From The Crypt TV series, Bordello Of Blood has an enthusiastic cult following – but it could have been so much better.
