Fast & Furious 7 poster

Rarely does a film series make it to a seventh entry. Rarer still does a film series make it to a seventh entry, and still be as good, if not better than the original. Actually, I’d wager that this is the ONLY film series ever to make it to a seventh entry and make more money than any other in the series.

To briefly summarize the plot, Dominic (Vin Diesel) and the crew are pulled back into the criminal world they have been trying to get away from, when Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) begins targeting them to avenge his brother (see Fast 6). There is also shady government officials and Somalian terrorists for the crew to contend with, on their way to saving themselves from Shaw.

James Wan (Insidious, Saw) has done an exceptional job at bringing Fast and Furious 7 to the big screen. This is a huge cast, bringing together almost every key player from the previous entries in the franchise, as well as introducing multiple new characters. Yes, it’s far-fetched as far as the story goes, but I don’t think any of us come to a movie like this because we want a believable story. We want explosions, eye candy and fast cars from these movies, and they deliver on all levels.

The cast have all now starred in multiple films together, and have an on screen chemistry that is clearly evident. I’m sure that Paul Walkers tragic death during the filming of this movie, only served to bring the cast even closer. It can’t have been an easy thing to move past, so I applaud the cast and crew for pulling together, and delivering a film at all, let alone a decent film.

I fully expect the franchise to continue on, especially with the money that this one has been raking in, and I will suspend my disbelief and go along for the ride every time.

Fast and Furious 7 is action packed, over the top adventure in the best possible way.
