Maksim Mrvica brings Croatian Rhapsody show to Perth

PERTH CONCERT HALL
Friday, 28 September at 7.30pm

The world’s biggest selling crossover pianist – a renowned live performer with rock star charisma – touring Australia for the first time!

Sensational young Croatian pianist, Maksim Mrvica, comes to Perth Concert Hall in September as part of his debut Australian tour. Maksim is a star of the international stage and has enthralled audiences with electrifying energy and compelling emotions wherever he has played across the globe.

Maksim was introduced to the piano at the age of nine. When the Yugoslav conflict escalated in 1991, he was determined to continue with his musical studies despite the turbulence and terror of the war. Mrvica entered, and won, his first major competition in Zagreb in 1993.

He has gone on to become the best-selling classical-crossover pianist in the world. His most famous adaptations include Croatian Rhapsody, Still Waters, Kolibre and Flight of the Bumble Bee. His albums have sold over four million copies in fifty-seven countries.

Maksim has a close affinity with the Olympic Games. His song Olympic Dream featured on the Athens 2004 Official Olympic Games album “Harmony” and he was subsequently invited by the Chinese Government to perform at the Three Gorges Dam as part of the Beijing Olympics Celebrations in 2008. In addition, his piece Exodus was used by Russian artistic gymnast, Anna Pavlova, as the floor music for her Beijing competition routine.

His artistic diversity extends beyond the musical realm: he is a fashion icon and collaborates with many leading fashion houses including Dolce and Gabbana, Armani and Christian Dior. He is also associated with other famous brands including BMW, Samsung, Yamaha and Star Alliance.

A performance by Maksim is an exhilarating event. His musical style, combining classical music with electronic elements, has broken down the barriers between musical genres and attracted a diverse and devoted audience.
