Cold Chisel welcome The Living End to their ‘One Night Stand’ show at Perth Arena!

The news just got better for Perth music fans with the announcement that The Living End will join Cold Chisel as special guests on their Perth Arena show (Saturday, 14 November).

Fresh from announcing they are playing together on three East Coast shows, Cold Chisel are very pleased to have coaxed the dynamic trio to cross the Nullarbor again to deliver the same great double act for Perth audiences.

“The Living End are one of the best rock & roll bands Australia has produced in the last 20 years,” said Cold Chisel singer Jimmy Barnes. “We love playing with them, they always fire us up and make us play at our best. We’re excited they’re joining us in Perth.”

Formed in 1994, The Living End rose to fame in 1997 after the release of their brilliant double A-sided single, Second Solution/Prisoner of Society, which peaked at No. 4 on the ARIA Singles Chart. The band has gone on to release six studio albums (The Living End in 1998, Roll On in 2000, Modern Artillery in 2003, State of Emergency in 2006, White Noise in 2008 and The Ending Is Just The Beginning Repeating in 2011) as well as numerous hit singles, including the radio and chart smash White Noise which earned the band an APRA Award for Song of the Year in 2009.

The Living End have been nominated in the ARIA Awards 27 times and won 5 of the pointy gongs: Highest Selling Single for Second Solution / Prisoner of Society” (1998), Breakthrough Artist – Album and Best Group for The Living End (1999), Best Rock Album for White Noise (2008), and the same category for The Ending Is Just the Beginning Repeating (2011). Australian musicologist Ian McFarlane described the group which “emerged as one of the country’s premier rock acts. By blending a range of styles (punk, rockabilly and flat out rock) with great success, The Living End has managed to produce anthemic choruses and memorable songs in abundance”.

“We’re honoured to be playing with Cold Chisel,” said Chris Cheney, singer/guitarist with The Living End. “They’re a national treasure and a group we admire greatly. Their records speak for themselves and live they are just blistering.”

The Perth Arena wasn’t built the last time Cold Chisel played Perth in early 2012 so it will be a first for them – and with this being Cold Chisel’s only show in Western Australia, adding The Living End to the bill will definitely make it a “One Night Stand” to remember.
