When I first heard about the Sevendust tour with Tremonti appearing as special guests, I couldn’t wait to fit one of the two SOLD OUT shows at The Machine Shop in Flint, MI into my schedule… and on a chilly Saturday night I made my way to the venue and made it just in time for Mark and his band to take the stage and deliver a killer set of tracks from across their catalog.  Flanked by his longtime guitarist Eric Friedman, Tremonti kicked off his set and didn’t let up until his time on stage was through.  Mark’s vocals were killer and his guitar playing was spot on, whether he was ripping through solos and lead riffs or taking the rhythm role and setting the pace. Having been a fan from the debut All I Was through to the recent A Dying Machine, I was glad to hear both of those discs well represented in the evenings set.  From first note to last Mark and his band kept the energy up and the rock and roll tight as hell.  If you get a chance to see these four guys out on the road, make sure you get to the show.

After the rousing set from Tremonti and a minor set change, headliners Sevendust made their way to the stage and started evening with “Dirty” and this show was full of dirty rock tracks sure to please the bands fans.  The one-two punch of “Denial” and “Pieces” kept the crowd rocking, with singing, yelling, and a lot of fists in the air.  Frontman Lajon Witherspoon drew the crowd in with his vocals and stage presence  while the rhythm section duo of drummer Morgan Rose and bassist Vince Hornsby kept the tempo in check and the flow of the show moving forward.  Other killer tracks like “Feel So” and “Shine” made their way into the set, but the back-to-back sound of “Trust” and “Enemy” put a cadence in my tapping foot and a smile on my face.  From song to song, the tandem guitars of John Connolly and Clint Lowry emitted guitar licks and solos that had Mark Tremonti watching from side stage.  After closing the set with “Decay,” the band left the stage for a moment only to return and close the night with “Bitch” and Face To Face.”  While the packed venue hated to see the evening come to an end, there was still a glimmer of satisfaction in having witnessed the show… Sevendust returns for a pair of “Home” show (that have already SOLD OUT) in less than three months!!!

Sevendust Setlist: Dirty – Denial – Pieces – Too Close to Hate – Feel So – Skeleton Song – Splinter – Trust – Enemy – Shine – Decay – Bitch – Face to Face
