The Miller Lite Carb Day started the Indianapolis 500 three-day weekend party with music by Blues Traveler and Train. The stage is setup on the track infield at turn 4. The day was sweltering with temperature around 90, and not a cloud in sight. The crowd arrived early and the infield was full by the time Blue Traveler took the stage around 3:30 in the afternoon.  They got the crowd going with their cover “The Devil Went Down in Georgia.” John Popper killed it on the harmonica in replacement of the fiddle. From there, it was a collection of their greatest hits from a career which began over 30 years ago.  They ended their set with “Carolina Blues.” After a short intermission, it was time for Train. Patrick Monahan and company took the stage as the fans screamed with excitement. They played a diverse set of their own hits and covers. These included Zepplin’s “Living Loving Maid”, Queen’s “Under Pressure,” and Petty’s “Free Fallin.’” They played a new single just released today a collaborative effort “Call Me Sir.” They also played all their greatest hits including “Hey Soul Sister.” Given the extreme heat and sun, they opted not to leave stage for the encore, and simply continued on for a few more songs. They mesmerized the crowd with their variety and showmanship, certainly fitting for Indy 500 festivities.
