A Dirty Dozen with DAKOTA SEAN of ANOTHER DAY DAWNS – March 2019

| 12 March 2019 | Reply

According to a recent press release: “Lehighton, PA Hard Alternative Rock Band ANOTHER DAY DAWNS has released the official music video for “Psycho,” off of their upcoming EP, A Different Life. Another Day Dawns is a high-energy hard rock band that was established in 2010 by drummer Nick McGeehan and guitarist Tyler Ritter of Lehighton, Pennsylvania. Initially performing classic rock covers, the addition of front-man Dakota Sean ignited their evolution into a full-on original act. Writing music at a breakneck pace, the trio quickly generated buzz across the northeast Pennsylvania region.” We get singer Dakota to discuss new music, influences, and much more…

1. Tell us a little about your latest release.  What might a fan or listener not grab the first or second time they listen through?  Are there any hidden nuggets the band put in the material or that only diehard fans might find?

It’s been long over due, so we figured we would take that time to make everything perfect. After nit picking all of our songs for months, we feel these songs are all kinda different from what we have done before. Not all of them sound alike and that’s what we aimed for. We have been working a lot on our writing and we have explored a lot of new realms and looked at our songs from totally different aspects.

2. What got you into music, and can you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to be a musician?

Growing up my dad was a musician and that’s what kinda got me into music all together, going to shows with him, going to the practices and I gotta knew from a young age that, this is what I wanna pursue.

3. Building on that, is there a specific song, album, performer, or live show that guided your musical taste?

I find almost any artist that I listen to whether it’s Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam, Scott Weiland, Shaun Morgan and many others, I find they have their own style kinda and I pick up on that. I listen to ALL types of music so I feel anything that has a great hook or great melody to find inspiring, to me. Whether that’s pop, rap, metal, death metal list goes on.

4. Who would be your main five musical influences?

Our music influences are all over the place from Slipknot, Bring Me The Horizon to Blue October and Three Days Grace. All really depends on what vibe we wanna create.

5. If you could call in any one collaborator to do a song with, who would it be, and why?

Oli Sykes.

6. How would you describe your music to someone who’d never listened to you before? What is the one comparison a reviewer or fan has made that made you cringe or you disagreed with?

We would say it’s fresh taste in the rock/alternative wave. We are kinda taking things in our own direction and creating our own style in a sense. Honestly no reviewer has made us cringe (yet) by any articles but sometimes they do misspell our song titles and our lyrics so if anything that kinda annoys us haha

7. What’s the best thing about being a musician?

Best part is the entire process of putting a song or album together and it’s a fulfilling feeling once its all accomplished… and the things that come along with it help too.

8. When the band are all hanging out together, who cooks; who gets the drinks in; and who is first to crack out the acoustic guitars for a singalong?

No one cooks so we will mostly end up getting deliver but it would have to be Tyler who cracks open the guitar and starts playing.

9. When was the last time you were star struck and who was it?

We were at uproar festival many years ago and Tyler and I were in line and all we heard was “ make way, make way Seether coming through) and their hands down one of my favorite bands, and Tyler and I were the only ones who didn’t move and didn’t know what was happening and so we turned around and the whole band was there with security and I just looked up and couldn’t even speak. Kinda felt pissed I couldn’t shout or even let them know how much their music helps me. I just stood in shock.

10. If you weren’t a musician, what would be your dream job?

It would be something In the music business whether that’s a producer, song writer for bands just something to do with music.

11. Looking back over your career, is there a single moment or situation you feel was a misstep or you would like to have a “do over”, even if it didn’t change your current situation?

We met with a lot of fake producers and a lot of just shady people and we feel we would like to skip over those steps but everything happens for a reason.

12. If you could magically go back in time and be a part of the recording sessions for any one record in history, which would you choose – and what does that record mean to you?

For me it would have to be Nirvana’s Nevermind record, just all of those songs I can listen to over and over again without getting sick of them. They really made a huge stain in the music industry and even in today’s world.
