10 Quick Ones with DAVID WILLIE of IRONCORE RESISTANCE – July 2018

| 28 July 2018 | Reply

1. Tell us a little about your latest release.  What might a fan or listener not grab the first or second time they listen through?  Are there any hidden nuggets the band put in the material or that only diehard fans might find?

Our latest release is our 3rd album release ever and the first with Pavement Entertainment. We put everything we had in to this one because we knew that we had the potential for a lot more people being able to hear it. Also the album version of ” Halfway There” is the original 5:36 version, where the radio edit is 3:34.

2. What got you into music, and can you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to be a musician?

I remember when I was a kid watching all the bands of the 80’s and thought, yes if that’s a job, I want it. The moment I realized I wanted to be a musician was after I had learned my first song, but really it was after I realized that I didn’t want to work a regular job and die never accomplishing anything. If I play music, I’m creating new music everyday and that’s perfectly fine with me if I never done anything else.

3. Who would be your main five musical influences?

Pantera, Black Label Society, Kings X, Lamb of God, and Creedence Clearwater Revival.

4. If you could call in any one collaborator to do a song with, who would it be?

Lemmy

5. How would you describe your music to someone who’d never listened to you before?

I usually just tell people it’s Hard Rock. Most people these days have their own pre-disposed notions about music, so if I know it’s a rocker or someone that likes rock music, I’ll name some bands that I’ve heard we sound like or played with.

6. What’s the best thing about being a musician?

Being able to write music or a song that someone can attach an emotion to or feeling to and have it take them over.

7. When the band are all hanging out together, who cooks; who gets the drinks in; and who is first to crack out the acoustic guitars for a singalong?

Well when we get together, I’m usually the one jamming, Brad our Bassist will round up some grub and our Drummer Trevin will supply the adult beverages for everyone.

8. If you weren’t a musician, what would be your dream job?

Entertainment is my calling so maybe some acting or comedian.

9. Looking back over your career, is there a single moment or situation you feel was a misstep or you would like to have a “do over”?

Yeah, a couple of years ago we had been contacted by someone from a supposedly legit management company, turns out they took about $1,000 from us before we realized what was happening. Need less to say, we would take that back.

10. If you could magically go back in time and be a part of the recording sessions for any one record in history, which would you choose – and what does that record mean to you?

If I could I would go back to our record.
