King Zebra - Wild Wild Wild cover

A good cover counts for almost as much as the music in getting die hard rockers into your music, and KING ZEBRA’s Wild! Wild! Wild! Is a killer: simple yet effective, it harkens back to the best of ‘80s metal, with just four nasty looking claws tearing through a stormy backdrop. It’s vibrant, professionally rendered, ties in nicely with the album title, excites and entices.

What a buzz, too, when the contents match the packaging!

We’d call King Zebra melodic heavy rock nowadays, rather than the ‘heavy metal’ they’dve been labelled back in the day, and it’s immediately obvious that they have great listening tastes, with a strong anthemic rock sound most heavily indebted to the Scorpions.

Wild Animals could have come straight off Rock You Like A Hurricane, Whiskey is a head shaking rocker, Point Of No Return and Too Many Rules keep the party strong, and Purple Roses is the token – and straight outta ’87 – power ballad.

Sure King Zebra are treading old ground with Wild! Wild! Wild!, but they bring a lot of personality and talent to the game, and this is one album that is going to stay on the playlist for quite some time.
