Smokin' Mirrors - Set To Ignite EP cover

A Sydney four piece fronted by the spunky Emmy Mack, Smokin’ Mirrors unleashed this debut EP on an unsuspecting world a few months ago, and it’s worth hitting the pavement to track down.

With a rockin’ style that has one foot in the 80’s and one eye firmly on modern rockettes like Halestorm and Paramore, you’ll be tuning up the ‘ole air guitar by the end of Track 1 (the title track) to play along with six string abuser Alex Richmond.

The CD positively bulges with the energy put into these grooves, and it must have been a struggle for the production team of Dave Petronic and Shane Edwards to keep the needles under the redline as they rock hard through State Of The Mind and Not In My Way.

The EP closes out with Wasted, showing a more smouldering side to both Mack’s vocals and the band’s music. There’s a real Guns n’ Roses edge to this track, with Richmond sounding a little more like Slash, and delivering an epic power balled solo to round the song out.

Set To Ignite is one helluva confident opening salvo from a band who seem to have what it takes, so don’t miss ‘em when they hit your town.
