Once you get past the imagery and song titles, what is presented here is some really good metal.  There are pieces of other bands woven into the tracks and the feel seems to shift from song to song.  I really like the tip of the hat they give to originators of their sound.

I hear traces of Judas Priest and Iron Maiden in tracks like “In The Name Of Metal” and “Sons Of Babylon.”  These guys take their metal seriously and it shows.  “When Demons Collide” is another strong track that stands out for me, with its aggressive playing by all the musicians, especially the drummer.  This is really reminiscent of Iron Maiden, but not a rip off by any means – more of a song honoring what that band did (and does) for the genre.

“Metalheads Unite” grabbed me and I couldn’t stop head banging in my office.  Have you ever seen an accountant sitting in his office head banging?  Neither had some of my co-workers apparently.  “Mr. Darkness” would have to be my favorite, as it has some killer guitar licks straight out of the metal and 80’s.  A guy like me cannot resist soaring lead riffs, pings, and squeals.  The vocals and other players add to the track and really drive this one home.

If you are a fan of metal and 80’s rock/glam/metal, don’t be afraid of the combination presented here.  This disc really marries the two different sounds well.  Even the opening riff of “I’m Mr. Evil” lends itself to the bastard son of these two genres.

Do yourself a favor and check it out – I am so glad I did!
