MAGIC BONES – Once You Forget [single]

Where Melbournites MAGIC BONES debut EP was Americana influenced psych-rock at it’s core over the course of it’s five eclectic tracks, this double A side single taps into a garage/80’s new wave aesthetic.

It’s no less adorable than its older sibling though – lead track Once You Forget features guitarist Kiri O’Connor on lead vocals, powering through what is almost a homage to garage punk.

The other side A (if such terms are valid in our digital age) is On The Spot, featuring a near-surf guitar intro before diving into angular 1980-ish New York new wave.

Both tracks are a short, sharp shock of sunshine – 1:41 and 2 minutes and one second respectively – but it pays to remember that it’s not how long it is, it’s what you do with it that counts.
