In this official companion piece to the first series of Netflix original series The Crown, royal biographer Robert Lacey picks apart each episode, illuminating the real history being practically every scene.

Along the way he exposes the events which were dramatized for TV and veer from historical accuracy, as well as pointing out dialogue which was written after private conversations which have never been divulged. He gives us fascinating historical facts dating back generations, which led not only to Elizabeth Windsor ascending to the throne in 1952, but also how she and Phillip Mountbatten met and courted, the troubles and triumphs of their early years together, and the political and social changes sweeping across the British Empire and the world at the time.

Presented episode by episode, The Inside History is easy to follow along with the show, and absolutely jam-packed with photographs – both from the show and from QEII’s real life.
