A veteran of the Melbourne restaurant scene and regular contributor to Fairfax Media’s Good Food and Epicure lift-outs, as well as a prominent TV presence on My Kitchen Rules and Better Homes And Gardens, Karen Martini has a huge following and eight best-selling cookbooks under her belt already.

This latest volume focuses on salads and vegetables – but there’s far more in here than just salad and veg. Dividing her book into chapters grouping together greens, cruciferous veg, gourds, alliums (garlic, onion, leek etc), tubers, root vegies, mushrooms and the like, Martini shares tried and tested recipes for a myriad of dishes including silverbeet & halloumi pies, corn and cheddar muffins, polenta chips, Arabic bread scrolls, roasted carrot soup, as well as many intriguing salads and vegetable side dishes.

Crammed full of vibrant, colourful photos, Salads & Vegetables doesn’t waste time trying to create new trends or develop any truly innovative cuisine ideas: Martini’s recipes are interesting and easy for home cooks to replicate, and simply designed to help make meals more interesting.
