I love The Machine Shop in Flint, MI… the vibe, the people, and the bands they get in the door.  Another new band to my live show list, but one I have been familiar with for year, Like A Storm, booked a show to kick off their first US shows in five years, and they were welcomed by a killer crowd and proceeded to deliver a great show.  Opening the night was Mick Blankenship and his band.  With a solid rock offering that set the pace for the evening, Mick and his guys hit the ground running from the first note and didn’t let up for their allotted time on stage.  After their set, there was a lull in the action while the next band set things up and prepared the stage for their set. Visitor, homebased in Detroit, took full advantage of their time and kicked the crowd’s ass during their set.  There were plenty of cool songs, guitar riffs, chugging bottom end from the bass and drums, and some vocals that didn’t let up.  These guys were firing on all cylinders, and I cannot wait to see and hear them play again sometime soon.

There was another small set changeover and some technical difficulties, but as if nothing could or would bother them, the foursome from New Zealand pushed through and proceeded to deliver a killer set of hits, fan favorites, some live debuts “Empire of Ashes” and “ALL F*CKED (Live it Up),” and they even tossed in a couple covers while knocking the dust off their US touring routine.  The band – Chris Brooks (vocals / guitar), Matt Brooks (guitar / vocals), Kent Brooks (bass) and Zach Wood (drums) fed off the crowd energy and excitement and returned it in spades as they worked through their set.  A personal favorite, “Wish You Hell,” made an early appearance in the set, but there was plenty to keep the crowd excited and rocking through the evening.  From opener “The End Of The Beginning,” these guys were out to own the night and The Machine Shop, if only for the evening.  They succeeded in doing that with song after song.  If you get the chance to see them on this run or one in the near future here in the States or back home, be sure to do that as these guys seem to have gotten stronger and hungrier during their time away.

Setlist: The End of the Beginning – Chemical Infatuation – Empire of Ashes – Wish You Hell – Become the Enemy – Just Save Me – Alone – T.N.T. – ALL F*CKED (Live it Up) – Pull Me From the Edge – Pure Evil – The Devil Inside – Yeah! – Love the Way You Hate Me
