M83 hit the stage to a well in advance sold out show at Marathon Music Works in Nashville, TN in support of their most recent album Fantasy. The evening was an absolute fun filled event. Everybody in attendance was singing and enjoying their performance. They jumped straight into the new album playing 5 songs before hitting a few popular standards from the rest of their catalog. Great energy was felt on stage and from the crowd. The band was absolutely energized and grateful to be there and play for such a high energy crowd.
The new album songs were definitely prepared and thoroughly performed with enthusiasm and precision on stage. Lots of airy ambient interludes and well timed instrumental interludes the pace of the show was slow but packed with lots of high points and numbers. Their set only lasted around an hour and a half but how they stacked the evening with new and old songs it honestly felt more like a three hour set. When the band came back to perform their encore everyone in the crowd erupted in cheers as soon as “Midnight City” started the floor just started moving and dancing to a pace that wasn’t seen all evening. At the end of the show all the members gathered at the front of the stage and thanked and showed their love to everyone for attending. The reactions and attitudes of everyone leaving the show afterwards were excited and happy. There was not a sad face in the crowd except that the show was over. This is a band that is highly recommended to catch live even if you aren’t that familiar with their music.
