Playing to a small but very enthused crowd over at Brooklyn Bowl, Saturday October 21st. The opener, The Vacant Lots – a two-piece post-punk/synth pop duo from from Brooklyn, New York – got onto stage and helped to set the mood for the evening with a performance that had all the right chill vibes to get everyone ready for the main act of the evening. This tour had been planned for January 2021 but was postponed due to Covid. So the crowd had been waiting a while to see this show.
When The Black Angels hit the stage the main floor was packed. Immediately jumping into “Without a Trace,” the first song off their new album Wilderness of Mirrors, the power and presence was felt and held through their entire performance. Playing hits off of all of their previous releases they ensured a solid and powerful performance for their fans. The mood was just right playing to a darkened room and projectors playing over the band with a presence almost as if you could feel yourself sitting in your room listening to a Velvet Underground or CAN album with the headphones on. Throughout the entire evening the intensity was felt and the crowd left extremely enraptured by what they had just witnessed. After seeing them play to the room and maintain a extreme level of intensity from start to finish; I am a full time fan and encourage all to see her perform.
