Venue: Jannus Live

City: St. Petersburg, FL

Date: November 20, 2021

Review and Photographs by: Todd “Toddstar” Jolicoeur (www.toddstarphotography.com)

Full disclosure – I requested access to review and photograph Tech N9ne’s current Strange New World tour knowing not much about his solo material, but familiar with who he is and the fact that he had contributed raps and lyrics to tracks from some of my favorite musicians, including Five Finger Death Punch and Samantha Fish.  That said, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I entered Jannus Live in St. Petersburg on a Saturday night.  The evening kicked off with Maez301 and we were off and running.  The newer rapper impressed me and kept me engaged throughout his short set as he entertained and warmed up the ever growing crowd.  Next up was Jerhy Robinson and he also worked the crowd with all he had making sure to keep everyone listening and watching as he performed.  King ISO hit the stage third and was a great bridge between the previous rapper and the performer that would hit next.  For various tracks throughout his set, he brought friend and fellow rapper Taebo The Truth to help carry to load.  After the run of tracks, the stage was cleared and a DJ stand appeared as the music cranked up and out for Rittz to jump into the fray and entertain the crowd that was pushing the venue to near capacity.  With songs and banter between, it was as if he was entertaining friends, not just a crowd of music lovers on a Saturday night.  After his full set, the evening culminated as we all waited on bated breath for the man of the evening to take his stage and I along with everyone else was not disappointed.  Tech N9ne took his place center stage wearing a crown and he did everything in his power to entertain and please his fans from the first beat until the last when the lights came up and we all worked our way into the night.  It was a testament to his love of the fans that Tech took the opportunity to play fan favorites and hits instead of taking the opportunity to road test music from his latest release Asin9ne, that dropped in early October.  If you were a fan walking in, you were ecstatic with teh set and the show (as many people told me they were).  If you were new to the Tech N9ne world like me, you just may have left the venue a Technician, also like me.

ToddStar - that's me... just a rocking accountant who had dreams of being a rock star. I get to do the next best thing to rocking the globe - I get to take pictures of the lucky ones that do. I love to shoot all genres of music and different types of performers. If it is related to music, I love to photograph it. I get to shoot and hang with not only some of my friends and idols, but some of the coolest people around today.
