The 1980’s punk rock phenom, Billy Idol, is back with on tour supporting his new four song EP The Roadside. Accompanied by guitarist Steve Stevens, the acoustic performance was one for the ages. The Indianapolis show was the first of only four such shows by the duo. A more intimate experience, Idol talked openly about himself and song writing. Already a proud grandfather, he said daughter is expecting another child soon and he can’t wait. He described his motorcycle accident and serious leg injury, which was the motivation for his new song “Bitter Taste.” Other stories included hanging out with the Rolling Stones and how that was motivation for “Rebel Yell.” Mid performance Steve Stevens had a long guitar solo which included bits of rocks greatest songs. The set included his greatest hits seamlessly mixed with his new material. The crowd was singing along, cheering after each song and was perhaps the loudest I have heard at the Old National Theater. The show was incredible and Indy fans were very fortunate to be selected as a site for one of Idol’s acoustic shows!
Setlist: Dancing With Myself – Catch My Fall – Kiss Me Deadly – Rita Hayworth – Sweet Sixteen – Bitter Taste – Steve Stevens Solo – Don’t Need a Gun – Eyes Without a Face – To Be a Lover – Rebel Yell – White Wedding – Shakin’ All Over
