The Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg, Canada was packed with a large diverse group of fans from little to large keeping that metal genre alive for Alexisonfire for their upcoming tour. The show kicked off with Canadian Punk/rock band NOBRO in the evening. I was surprised seeing them open the show as they were here recently this past year with PUP. The band set the tone for the crowd pumping them up for the main acts to a wicked show for a great evening. I really enjoyed their set while shooting the band before the main acts went up and I can see the crowd loving the female band. I will for sure keep an eye on them for future tours. After NOBRO came on American punk rock band The Distillers and I can hear in the crowd fans were excited as much to see them as Alexisonfire. Leadsinger Brody Dalle showed she can still hold an amazing voice after so many years in music. The lights for the set I think brought the whole set together in my mind. The band went through their old material including hits like “City of Angels,” “Seneca Falls,” and “Drain the blood.” The Distillers delivered what fans wanted to see from the band at the show.
Finally, Alexisonfire comes out on stage with “Accidents” and fans knew the words right away just singing and screaming. Screamer/Frontman George Pettit was ready for Winnipeg as he was bouncing all over the stage in the evening and screaming his heart out. The band was interacting with the fans throughout the evening calling fans for words to songs. You can hear it in the crowd once “Familiar Drugs” came on everyone knew the words I enjoyed it. The band went through old material as well as new material for the new fans like myself to what they came for including “Season of the Flood,” “This Could Be Anywhere in the World,” “Old Crows,” and “Rough Hands.” For new fans as well as old fans I think you will get a performance and a band they can do it still.
