I recently had the opportunity to check out a newer band at a venue I had never been to. After checking out some tracks from Vista Kicks’ 2017 release Booty Shakers Ball, I decided to not only interview the band, but swing by PJ’s Lager House in Detroit and see what these guys could do live. The crowd was into them from the minute they hit the stage. Seeing four guys dressed in black with maroon velvet jackets was a sight to behold for sure, but the swagger they brought to each song they played made the evening worth it. Trading off vocals between Derek and Sam and allowing Nolan and Trevor to amply anchor the musical landscape, these guys brought their A-game to a smaller venue that seemed built for their type of show. The crowd was able to sing, swing, dance, and just get into the mood and groove with the guys – something that has been lacking lately at some smaller shows. The band played songs that seemed familiar to most in the audience, but a good song is a good song and it becomes even better and almost familiar when it is delivered well. You may not have heard of them yet, but do yourself a favor and check out this quartet as they make their way across the country bringing their music to the masses.
