10 Quick Ones with OSSY PFEIFFER from IGNORE THE SIGN – February 2018

| 10 February 2018 | Reply

According to a recent press release: “Hanover rocks hard again – as in the best of times! IGNORE THE SIGN, the band around vocalist, composer and multi-instrumentalist Ossy Pfeiffer, will release their new single “Days Of Thunder” today. The track is an instant taste of the upcoming SPV / Steamhammer debut album “A Line To Cross”out on February 23rd, 2018. ” We get vocalist, composer and multi-instrumentalist Ossy Pfeiffer to answer to our 10 Quick Ones about new music, influences, and more…

1. Tell us a little about your latest release.  What might a fan or listener not grab the first or second time they listen through?  Are there any hidden nuggets the band put in the material or that only diehard fans might find?

Damned! We completely forgot to hide some weird stuff 😉 Hahahaha! Thanks for reminding, will consider for next album. To answer the question: Nothing hidden, all just pure classic rock music.

2. What got you into music, and can you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to be a musician?

Luckily my dad is a passionate photographer – so there are plenty of pics and some super 8 movies of my childhood where you can see me listening to records, playing instruments… To be honest I always knew and felt, that a “normal” job wouldn’t be the thing though being very young! I finished business school to calm down my parents, opened up a little fashion boutique which ran good, bud decided to get in to professional music parallel. That was 1989 at the age of 19.

3. Who would be your main five musical influences?

  • Johann Sebastian Bach is the inventor of music! All starts with him.
  • The Beatles
  • Procol Harum
  • The Beach Boys
  • Deep Purple
  • Followed by Led Zeppelin and all the other great rock bands…

4. If you could call in any one collaborator to do a song with, who would it be?

Definitely Paul McCartney

5. How would you describe your music to someone who’d never listened to you before?

Pretty easy: Normal music 😉 Hahahahaha! It’s always hard to define your own style – but we all decided to put ourselves into the shelf of “Classic Rock”

6. What’s the best thing about being a musician?

All the clichés: Money, chicks, drinks & drugs… 😉 Haha! The best about being an artist is that you can manifest your feelings either in a picture or in our case in records! Every album, every song is your own psychotherapy.

7. When the band are all hanging out together, who cooks; who gets the drinks in; and who is first to crack out the acoustic guitars for a singalong?

The problem is, that we seriously all love to cook because food is love 😉 Anca is definitely the best cook of us all and makes great Rumanian dishes! After feeding us with tons of love and booze she takes out the acoustic guitar, we all get naked and dance around the table singing Rumanian songs 😉

8. If you weren’t a musician, what would be your dream job?

I’d seriously be a surgical psychiatrist and repair human brains!

9. Looking back over your career, is there a single moment or situation you feel was a misstep or you would like to have a “do over”?

Whatever you did in life leads to what you do now – I’m pretty sure that this band wouldn’t exist if I took other road. It’s all fine as it is!

10. If you could magically go back in time and be a part of the recording sessions for any one record in history, which would you choose – and what does that record mean to you?

Wow! Very hard question! There are so many recording sessions I would have loved to be part of… Steely Dan / Aja, Beach Boys / Pet Sounds, Def Leppard / Hysteria… But I think it would be The Beatles / Abbey Road! I grew up with that album, The Beatles are the inventors of Rock & Pop music for me!
