Bret Michaels seems to roll through Detroit on an annual basis and the show is always a great time for the fans and the band alike.  The smiles from Bret and his band – Pete Evick, Eric Brittingham, Mike Bailey, and Rob Joswiack – tell the tale from the moment the lights dim and they hit the stage.  Working their way through Poison classics, a couple covers from the Poison era, and even a cover from the release Jammin’ With Friends, the crowd got exactly what they came for… a night of great rock and roll from guys who not only play the music, but dig and appreciate it themselves.  The set kicked off with the power one-two punch of “Talk Dirty to Me” and “Look What the Cat Dragged In” and there was no looking back.  These high energy rockers got the crowd pumped up and Bret dialed in for the rest of the evening.  Shifting gears to two tracks that were made famous by others  – Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama” and Loggins Messina’s “Your Mama Don’t Dance” (also covered by Poison) – demonstrated the bands ability to rock and make a song their own without disrupting the classic sound and feel we have all come to know and love.  “Unskinny Bop” was dropped in between two of Bret’s arguably most famous ballads “Something to Believe In” and “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” with the latter getting a nod from Bret for the multitude of artists he has had collaborate on the track over the years.  Delviering on a promise from the beinning of the show, Bret and his band delivered “Nothin’ but a Good Time”… literally and figuratively.  The show was a fun night of great music and party vibe that would be hard to match any time soon.  Closing the show with the KISS classic “Rock And Roll All Nite,” the Michaels exited the stage and left the crowd satisfied, with smiles around and songs dancing in heads throughout the venue.

Setlist: Talk Dirty to Me – Look What the Cat Dragged In – Sweet Home Alabama – Your Mama Don’t Dance – Something to Believe In – Unskinny Bop – Every Rose Has Its Thorn – Nothin’ but a Good Time – Rock and Roll All Nite
