PERTH’s SLAYFEST “REUNION EDITION” First line-up announcement!

On 9 March 2007, in the year when Myspace was the go to, the I-phone was launching, Kevin 07 took the reins and Machine Head unleashed “The Blackening”, the multi-stage indoor festival SLAYFEST was presented at a packed out Capitol & Amplifier Bar in Perth to showcase Australian live acts in the genres of metal, rock and hardcore.

In 2018, in what will be 11 years almost to the day, SLAYFEST comes out of hibernation to celebrate with an almighty “REUNION” starring a hand-picked selection of the best Australian heavy acts from yesteryear and today, in one huge night of reformation and flashback fury at the place it all started…… Capitol and Amplifier in Perth WA.

PSYCROPTIC: Since their formation in 1999, the band having released six critically acclaimed studio albums and gone on to become one of Australia’s most successful heavy acts. Psycroptic return to once again headline Slayfest in the lead up to their Melbourne Download Festival appearance this coming March.

FULL SCALE: Starting out in 1998 as heroes of the Perth heavy scene, FULL SCALE DEFLECTION, (F.S.D), the band moved to Melbourne and evolved into the now legendary FULL SCALE. Now, what will be 20 years on in 2018… FULL SCALE are back, and a next chapter is set to begin…

“We’ve had the same values since ’98: destroy it live and change the world.” Ezekiel Ox.

ABRAMELIN: Arguably the pioneers of death metal in Australia, the mighty Abramelin are back from the grave after a 14 year hiatus and stronger than ever, armed with brutal classic material as well as brand new songs that will form their forthcoming album.

MUTT: Formed in the early 90’s by a bunch of guys with a common love of beer and Radio Birdman, Perth punk rock legends Mutt released 4cds and played hundreds of gigs including multiple Big Day Outs; tearing out party sets fused with slower heavy grooves, flat out thrash, and everything in between. Slayfest is stoked to have Mutt reform in 2018 for a blast of fun from the past!

FROM THE RUINS: Reforming, and not seen since April 2007, Perth’s forever hardcore heavyweights rise again for Slayfest, proving that you can’t always teach an old dog new tricks, From The Ruins are back and ready to shake the foundations one more time. If you see Tony M, ask nicely for a web address.

CHOKE: Established in Perth in late 1996, Choke became notorious for outrageous shows, lyrics & sheer lack of taste. In August 2001 the band played what was to be their last ever show to a throbbing crowd of 600, only to do a Farnsey and have another crack in 05. Now in 2018, they’re comin back to do it all over again ONE LAST TIME… or will they!

CADDIS: Caddis formed in 1997, when 4 high school mates from Fremantle united with a passion for heavy groove based music – Nu Metal. The guys went on to release one album that was enough to cement their name in Perth Metal history. 20 years after that release, Mark and Stu, who were the founding members and main songwriters, are ready to showcase their material again in a one off performance at Slayfest in 2018.

BEERFRIDGE: Margaret Rivers finest purveyors of thrash punk metal, hit Slayfest for the first time, and unlikely the last!

UNRAVEL: Crawling from the gutters of Perth, Unravel exhume the brutally primal sledge hammer of Old School Death Metal and ravage it with the violent consciousness of Grindcore and Hardcore Punk to sonically smack the wind out of punters everywhere. One of Perth’s rising next generation joining in on the comradery at Slayfest.

Slayfest brings it all back, and gets ready to turn it all up to 11
