Glass Animals played to a sold out Express Live outdoor amphitheater on a perfect autumn night. Following up on their successful first album Zaba, the band exploded on the scene with their current effort How to Be a Human Being. They are currently on tour hitting all the major festivals and numerous cities internationally. I had the chance to catch them in 2014 and was excited to see them with their new material, which I really enjoy. The pit and back lawn were packed by show time. The stage was complete with palm trees, giant old school TV, and a disco ball pineapple. They opened with “Life Itself”. David Bayley was even more energetic than I remembered. He was all over the stage, out in the crowd, and up on the drum set throughout the night. The fans were equally as engaged and sang in unison with every song. Bayley took the corded mic out in crowd for “Gooey” where he stood on a fence between the pit and grass. After singing “Agnes” from atop the drum set, the guys took a short break and returned with a cover of “Crazy.” The pineapple disco ball next lowered, showering lights everywhere as “Pork Soda” began. David held a pineapple in each hand as he and the fans sang out loud. It was an incredible night with a super performance, really fun crowd and gorgeous weather!
