WAMFest ► 125+ ACTS ANNOUNCED FOR West Australia’s music celebration – WAMFEST LIVE SATURDAY
Whilst record-breaking attendances saw over 14,500 music lovers filling WA venues last year, the 2017 edition of WAMFest presented by Drug Aware promises to be an even bigger and bolder celebration of why WA is producing some of the hottest musical talent in the world, with thanks also to major partners City of Perth and Lotterywest. Who will be the next Tame Impala, Pond, Ta-ku or Troye Sivan? It’s time to discover them at WAMFest Live, and through our new website – www.wamfest.com.au
With the premiere live music, public component of WAMFest evolving alongside a few naming tweaks, we’re excited to make the first programming revelations for the all new WAMFest Live Saturday on 4 November. Letting go of the ‘Saturday Spectacular,’ the name might be simplified, but expect an even more spectacular explosion of local music love. 125+ WA acts will take over 19+ venues in the City of Perth, and all still FREE ENTRY to run/fun around as you please the entire day!
With a record-breaking 326 artists applying to be a part of WA’s biggest showcase and celebration of local talent, we’re psyched to present an electrifying mix of gold-certified acts with your future faves. From recent BIGSOUND hits like Boat Show, Stella Donnelly and Ziggy Ramo; to WAM award-winning acts The Money War, Rag ‘n Bone, Lucy Peach and Sydnee Carter; party professionals Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, The Southern River Band and Old Blood; and heavy bangers Tobacco Rat, Conform and FOAM; expect high quality sounds to tickle and wow all musical taste buds.
Where’s the fun going down? Prepare for Perth’s finest outdoor party, the famous Block Party upgrading to the super-charged Lot Party, the very first music event in Lot 10 South, a space adjacent to Yagan Square, elevating this soon-to-be central city cultural hive into a two-stage musical wonderland. Plus, as WAMFest Co-Coordinator Mark Neal explains, WAMFest will shake things up venue-wise all over Perth. “We are excited to expand into the city, using Amplifier and Capitol for WAMFest again, and thrilled to have new venues like Tetsuo NC, one of the first events in The Sewing Room, and WAMFest debuts at shiny spaces in Laneway Lounge and The Globe.
“All-Ages stages catering to young and 18+ alike will see a diverse mix of fine songwriters at the Perth Cultural Centre Wetlands, and youth relevant acts in Forrest Place, both starting from 12pm to cater for anyone who needs a place to combine live music with a bite to eat,” continues Neal. “We also have an All Ages friendly area within this year’s debut Lot Party. Wesley Church will also cater to all ages, in another WAMFest first.”
Add in staple highlights The Bird, Jack Rabbit Slims, Universal Bar, The Mustang Bar, The Boston, The Moon Café, Badlands, Hen House Live and The Court, and you’ve a rollicking party from midday to late, allowing music lovers to swing freely from venue to venue.
