Bizarre but true: In 2013 Automne Zingg was nursing a broken heart in Los Angeles and, as she slowly emerged from inconsolable sadness, started drawing doodles of Morrissey, Siousxie Sioux and Nick Cave, eventually sharing them in a zine. The reaction was instantaneous: readers wanted to see Cave, Morrissey, et al stuffing their faces.
Zingg drafted in Joshua Ploeg to create vegan recipes based around her doodles, which played upon each artist’s lyrics, and the results are these two pint-sized recipe books cum art book cum fan zine.
There’s good fun to be had for fans: Gwyneth Paltrow shedding tears because Morrissey ate all the spicy Kale & Sweet Potatoes; an Unhappy birthday cake; miserably Mozza’s Last Dollar Pancakes; Nick Cave’s Onion Rings; (Non) Beef Jerky; Funeral Potatoes and even (dreaming of Kylie) Pop Tarts.
