7/10

With 200 new recipes divided into budgetary chapters – under $5, $10, $15, $20 and $25 – Paulene Christie has assembled a great collection of family-friendly meals which include traditional favourites, and more adventurous dishes (Red Wine Rabbit, anyone?), all made cheap and cheerfully in the slow cooker.

In these difficult financial times, all families need to concentrate to make ends meet, and there’s no denying these slow cooker meals are easily prepared when we’re all so time poor.

Brocolli Cauli Bake, Mac & Cheese, a myriad of soups and stews, cookies, cakes and fudge all add up to a comprehensive cookbook not just for families on a budget, but for anyone wanting simple meal ideas that are easy to prepare.
