The Persuasion live up to their name with a self-assured debut EP of Zappa-esque jazz-rock (mostly) instrumentals on this self-titled release.
A 4-piece of musician’s musicians (plus a couple of guests), The Persuasion are obviously consummate players totally at ease with one another – it shows in their effortless playing through some really complex music.
Diminishing Gnomes is the most obviously Zappa-inspired track on show, whilst the punchy No Justice, Just Us – with guest vocals from Aaron Malone – leans towards a jazzy hip hop vibe.
