MI-SEX TO PERFORM HEADLINE SHOW AT FLY BY NIGHT MUSICIANS CLUB IN FREMANTLE ON FRIDAY 29 JULY
Catch Mi-Sex on Friday, 29 July for their first full headline show in Perth at Fly By Night. They’ll be performing all their classic hits, Computer Games, Blue Day, But You Don’t Care, as well as new songs from the soon to be released full-length album, including their brand new single, My Sex Your Sex.
The Mi-Sex lineup is made up of the enigmatic Steve Balbi on lead vocals and Travis New on guitar; alongside original Mi-Sex members Don Martin, Murray Burns, Paul Dunningham and Colin Bayley.
Mi-Sex gained international success in the late 70s/early 80s with their smash hit Computer Games, which preceded a stack of similar-sounding British chart entrants by a year or more, and became one of the defining pop-rock songs of its time. It ascended to #1 in Australia, hit the top five in New Zealand, and charted in more than 20 countries, including the top ten in Canada, France, Austria, Italy, West Germany and South Africa.
After the unfortunate and untimely death of lead singer, Steve Gilpin, it was 20 years before they re-emerged from the music underground, after the acceptance of an invitation by Steve Balbi to front Mi-Sex at a private party and outdoor “Christchurch Quake Relief Concert”. Confirming the right chemistry with Balbi upfront, the band’s passion was reignited and they haven’t looked back, with their forthcoming album due for release in August.
