Michael Kogge does a sterling job of making the much anticipated – and greatly enjoyable – Star Wars movie The Force Awakens off the screen and into a young teen-friendly format.
In telling the story of young scavenger Rey, deserter from the evil First Order Finn, Resistance fighter pilot Poe Dameron and his devoted droid BB-8, Kogge succeeds in actually expanding upon the movie, giving us further insight into the characters and the battles, not to mention the lives and planets at stake.
Ideally suited for young readers approaching or hitting their teens, this novelised version of the film was a great read even for myself, an adult who saw the original Star Wars movie when it was first released, and my nearly-nine-year-old daughter (who has seen and loved the movie) has also been working her way through it with great excitement.
