Another album which fell through the cracks when 100% ROCK moved offices, Screaming Jets bassist Paul Woseen’s debut solo album is exactly that in the truest sense of the term: just Woseen and an acoustic guitar, singing and playing some new tracks and reinterpreting some favourites from the Screaming Jets discography.
Always engaging, Bombido is the sound of a master craftsman, an artist. As such you hear more than just songs, more than mere chords and lyrics. You hear integrity, craftsmanship, passion and honesty.
The Jets songs (October Grey, Friend Of Mine, Helping Hand) impress instantly by virtue of their familiarity – even though we’ve never heard them like this before. The new tracks worm into your psyche quickly, too, Think, Live To Ride and Hitting Myself In The Head becoming firm favourites with just a few listens.
Bombido is engaging and, frankly, pretty awesome. Its acoustic and heartening nature makes it the perfect Saturday arvo pre-rev-up, or Sunday morning coming down listening.
