Megadeth remove Newsted from Sidewave show lineups

| 5 February 2014 | Reply

In a bizarre move which follows several months of seemingly erratic behaviour by Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine, the band have refused to play their two Soundwave Festival Sidewave shows with Newsted in support.

Led by ex-Metallica bassist Jason Newsted, Newsted have been replaced on the line-up of the two shows by Whitechapel.

Mustaine, sacked from Metallica years before Newsted was enlisted into the group’s ranks, has long held a grudge against his former bandmates, but had appeared to reconcile with them following gigs featuring the ‘Big Four’ bands and appearances in documentaries in recent years.

No reason was given for the line-up change.

Megadeth will now be playing with Volbeat and Whitechapel at the Sydney UNSW Roundhouse on Tuesday 25 February (Licensed all ages), and at The Forum in Melbourne on Thursday 27 February.
