Everyone needs a departure from their typical music once in a while to either learn about other bands and genres or to better appreciate their regular music. While listening to the latest EP from SIINES, I experienced more of the former. This hybrid of EDM and rock really set a different tone for me. According to the band, “If Motley Crue, David Guetta, Nirvana and Deadmau5 had an orgy SIIINES would be the DNA left behind.” I have to admit, this isn’t too far off. The techno bump of tracks like disc opener “God I Hate Clubs” and “Kanye West” would make a club or party the perfect place to crank these songs up. The addition of female vocals enhance “Whelps” and makes it seem less EDM and more pop, regardless of the beats slamming through the speakers. “Inhuman Nature” has a different groove than the previous tracks, while maintaining the techno feel. The poppy feel of the chorus makes this fun and catchy. This track alone is worth the proverbial price of admission – it gives the disc and band a little diversity without compromising the direction of the disc. “Breathe” closes out the EP with ethereal vocals that morph into a cool track featuring a bumping track and fun chorus that should get a crowd jumping and moving. Hmmm, I wonder what other tunes are available out there to load up for the next party…
