Listening to this album for the hundredth time today it occurred to me – I’ve interviewed the guy, reviewed him live and even been singled out in a crowd by him from the stage and been verbally toyed with by him, but one thing I’ve never done is review this record, so here goes:
Get this album.
This band has the most authentic, pulsating rock n’ roll heart out there right now, boasting a unique style and approach without a sliver of pretention or bullshit, just full force rock n’ roll from start to finish.
Rock n’ Roll Is Black n’ Blue is full of songs about girls – in his own words, “the three stages of any relationship. When you want somebody but you’re not going out with them, they may be the object of your desire; then you’re finally going out with them, in a relationship; then the final concluding end to the relationship when either one of them leaves that person because they annoy the hell out of you, or you get dumped by them because you annoy the hell out of them! The girls you want; the girls you’re going out with; and the girls you used to go out with. “ FULL INTERVIEW HERE
Sex is one helluva driving force on this album, as in life – Legs, Get Up, I Don’t Care, Are You Into Me, Type Of Girl, Don’t Do This – hell, the entire album is about libido fulfilment!
And it’s great – intense and feisty, relentlessly rocking, and fun from start to finish. If you don’t have it, go get it – you won’t be disappointed!
