MAT ZO PENS DEAL WITH ASTRALWERKS RECORDS; NEW REMIX EP FOR “EASY” BY MAT ZO & PORTER ROBINSON TO BE RELEASED ON MAY 7TH, 2013

(New York, NY – April 18, 2013) – Astralwerks, the ground-breaking New York-based record label devoted to developing genre-defying new artists, is pleased to announce its latest signing of the multi-faceted producer and remixer, Mat Zo. At a mere 22 years of age, Mat Zo is the hotly tipped British electronic music star championed by everyone from Pete Tong, A-Trak, and Swedish House Mafia to Skrillex, Lifelike, Above & Beyond and more. His diverse Beatport hits on the legendary Ajunabeats label include “Bipolar”, “Superman” and “Frequency Flier.” High profile global tours, collaborations with fellow talent Arty (“Mozart”),  and a reputation as one of dance music’s most acerbic wits has seen his star climb ever higher in the past 12 months. 2013 will see him release his debut artist album on Astralwerks – which will cover everything from glitchy hip-hop and electronica to UK garage and big room club bangers.

On May 7th, 2013, Mat Zo and American producer Porter Robinson team up for “Easy,” a big room melodic house anthem that weds feel-good soulfulness with massive contemporary dynamics.  The track has already reached #1 on Beatport and Hype Machine and was premiered to great acclaim on Radio 1 by Pete Tong. This eclectic 6-track EP  will feature a range of new remixes of “Easy” by such luminaries as Belgium-based Modek, indie darlings Lamaitre and drum n’ bass legend Andy C. The track began life as a demo for Zo’s album, until Robinson brought him on the road to tour for his successful single “Language” which sold more than 250,000 copies and hit #1 on Beatport and iTunes Dance charts.  While on the road, the solo effort turned into collaboration between two of the world’s hottest young electronic music talents, and together, Robinson and Zo have created one of the most incendiary crossover dance records of the year.
