This is a great jam album… if you like them. I am not a big fan of jamming or instrumental discs. There are a couple tracks with lyrics presented here.
The disc opens with a lyric free jam-track, “Agathyrsi.” Next up is “Chaemera,” which has the same jam vibe as the previous track, but features vocals that have a very ethereal feel to them. “Falconer” is another track that features a guitar jam, but this one features more uptempo vocals. The guitars are well played, the drums and bass keep time and add to the tracks. There is definitely a 70’s feel to the tracks, due to the bands origins as a Black Sabbath tribute band, no doubt. “Gryphon Wing” shoots in and has great vocals. The jamming is good, but as it isn’t really my thing, I would love to hear songs with more lyrics and vocals. Not to mention, the vocalist is very capable of carrying a disc, based on the tracks presented here.
“Path of the Chosen Arrow” is another song that features a long intro and jam that is good. Again, I prefer vocals and tune out the jamming. When the vocals kick in, the tempo picks up and the song is enjoyable. “Mach”is another lyric/vocal free track that demonstrates the band plays well and seem to mesh well in the studio. “Of Kings and Cowards” is much like “Gryphon Wing,” in that it is a good song that is better because of the vocals and lyrical content. “The Desert” is a jam track that has some ethereal vocals layered over top where a chorus might be. This track really shows the psychedelic origins of the band.
