MIGUEL AND ELLE VARNER COMMENT ON THEIR GRAMMY NOMINATIONS
[New York, NY, December 7, 2012] – Singer/songwriter MIGUEL caps off 2012 with 5 Grammy® Awards nominations for his critically acclaimed sophomore release Kaleidoscope Dream. Announced last night (12/5), MIGUEL’s nominations include the coveted Song of The Year, Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song for “Adorn;” Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Rap Song for Wale’s Lotus Flower Bomb feat. Miguel. Miguel’s “How Many Drinks” also contributes to Salaam Remi’s Producer of the Year nomination for Remi’s production on the track. The 55th annual GRAMMY® Awards are scheduled to air live on Sunday, February 10th 2013 on CBS (ET/PT) from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA.

Released October 2 on Bystorm/RCA Records, the genre-bending Kaleidoscope Dream debuted at #1 on the Billboard R&B Albums chart and entered at #3 on both the Billboard 200 and Top Digital Albums charts. The album’s breakout hit single “Adorn,” written and produced by Miguel, currently holds 2012’s record for maintaining the #1 spot on Billboard’s R&B/Hip Chart for 11 consecutive weeks! “Adorn” has also been #1 at Urban Mainstream Radio for 5 consecutive weeks.

[New York, NY – December 7, 2012] Singer/songwriter ELLE VARNER ‘s Top 10 single “Refill,” from her spectacular MBK Entertainment/RCA Records debut Perfectly Imperfect, has been nominated for a “Best R&B Song” GRAMMY award. Described as a “sultry R&B joint” by MTV Buzzworthy,“Refill” was the most added song at urban radio upon its release and has become one of the 40 most played songs on urban mainstream radio in 2012.
Reacting to the nomination hours after her shining performance at NYC’s Theatre at Madison Square Garden as part of Trey Songz’ “Chapter V World Tour,” Varner was thankful for being acknowledged by the RecordingAcademy – “I am so humbled and honored to receive this incredible recognition for my first album! Much love to the academy and everyone who supported,” stated Elle.
Released August 7th, Perfectly Imperfect debuted at #2 and #4 on Billboard’s R&B Albums and Billboard 200 charts respectively, and features the J. Cole assisted “Only Wanna Give It to You” and current sensual single, “I Don’t Care.” Self-penned by the LA-born/New York University graduate, the 11 song opus continues to receive high praises from media, including New York Magazine, who listed the soulful debut in their “Top Ten Albums of 2012” list as well as a 4-star rating by Rolling Stone Magazine.
Recently crowned the “Best New Artist” at this year’s Soul Train Music Awards, Varner, contributed her writing skills to Miguel’s seductive song “Use Me” from his critically acclaimed sophomore effort, Kaleidoscope Dream,and counts the FLOTUS Michelle Obama and daughter Malia, amongst her fans.
