The Killers are back and at the top of their game!
Battle born is quite easily the best Album from the Killers since their debut, Hot Fuss. They may have made us wait a bit longer than we would have liked but it is well worth it!
With possibly their best opening track since Jenny was a friend of mine, Flesh and Bone is an excellent record and preps you nicely for an album loaded with synth-pop-rock brilliance. Their new single Runaways follows, another amazing record and sounds like it could have just slipped of Brandon’s solo album “Flamingo”.
Lyrically it is a well written album and focuses on a tragic romantic theme for the most part. Vocally Brandon does not let us down either and for proof that the Killers front man can actually hold a note just listen to a little number called “Be Still” which features right before the closing track that shares the albums name. Battle born is a synth rock masterpiece and the best album closer to any Killers album.
All the influences are there to hear, Dire straits, Springstein, O.M.D. I know of no other band that can mix Rock, Dance, Pop, use a synthesiser and still make it all sound fresh and original.
Stand out tracks – Flesh and Bone, Runaways, Miss Atomic Bomb, Rising Tide and Battle born
In a nutshell Battle Born is an excellently written, produced and composed album loaded with trademark Killers Synth rock anthems that will keep you checking their website for the next installment from the men from Vegas.
