Perth-based explosive rock’n’roll combo THE DOMNICKS release its first full length album Super Real on September 20, 2012 on legendary Sydney label Citadel with a rockin’ launch show at Mojo’s Bar two days later. Tickets on sale now at Heatseeker.

Super Real continues in the tradition of The DomNicks recording debut, Hey Rock ‘n Roller (2009), but expands on that gutsy guitar driven sound taking a ride through some very different genres interlocking into one seamless musical journey. The band’s remarkable songwriting talents are augmented by a couple of soul stage favorites that feature their distinctive styling.

Among the 12 tracks you’ll find the exiled Stones sound of Reconcile, the brazen brass and swing of Let’s Go Baby, the Soul flavors in I Wonder What You’re Doin’ Now and the tantalising twists and turns of the electric sitar on Winter. The rest of the album is liberally peppered with the flavors of the blues, funk, soul and classic guitar pop and the band’s already full sound is enhanced by horns and keyboards to fill every musical nook and cranny. Recorded at Kingdom, Loop and Real to Real studios, Super Real fuelled by the vim and vigor of a noble era is bound to cause the head and heart to shake.

The DomNicks boasts very impressive musical pedigrees from all its members particularly those of musical stalwarts Dom Mariani and Nick Sheppard who formed the band five years ago. See what each member of the band has to say about Super Real on the following page.

NICK SHEPPARD – Lead vocals, guitar (ex The Cortinas, The Clash)

“I like a lot of things about this record, but what I like the most is you can hear how much we enjoy playing together when you listen to it.”

DOM MARIANI – Lead vocals, guitar (ex The Stems, Someloves, DM3)

“The process was a natural one. By playing live regularly we were able to hone our sound. We had a good batch of tunes and we waited for the opportune time….coming off a good run of shows to go in and record them.”

HOWARD SHAWCROSS – Bass, vocals (ex The Elks, Dave Warner)
“In my forty plus years of thumbing the four strings, the art of recording has always remained a mystery. Playing with the other three DomNicks is a joyful, swinging and playful thing on stage and in the studio. I think with Super Real,  that stage magic has been captured, bottled and nicely presented for human consumption plus it comes with a secret ingredient, me on lead vocals singing the Bobby Bland classic I Wouldn’t Treat A Dog. ”

MARZ FRISINA – Drums (ex Calhoons)
“This has been by far the easiest record I’ve done. It was one or two takes for each song. It’s the quality of the musicians I’m playing with  that makes my job easy. Super Real is something I will look back on in years to come and think… “that’s a great fucking record…”
