Learn more about some of this year’s stellar artists below:
- Drae Michael Smith (D-RAE) was born on July 29, 1991, grew up in the small town of East Palestine, Ohio and at the age of 14, realized that he wanted to take his love and passion for music to another level by writing and recording his own music. In 2011, Smith began to brand and promote his “Keep It Movin” movement and shared the stage with names such as Wiz Khalifa, Machine Gun Kelly and Yelawolf. Smith had faced a lot of challenges in the form or hate, criticism, low-budgets and no support, but through it all he kept things moving and continued to work hard. His goal is to be a source of inspiration for those who have dreams of any kind, to always keep their head up and know that if they believe and work hard, good things will come their way.
- Formed in 2011, Helix Reign combines elements of 90s Alternative Rock, Modern Hard Rock, and traditional heavy metal to make music that can only be described as “helix reign” Helix Reign has opened for national acts Mushroomhead, Puddle of Mudd, Saliva, Red Jumpsuit Aparatus, We Came as Romans, Emphatic, Trapt, and Icon for Hire as well as headlined several shows in their hometown as well as won 2 battle of the bands contests. In the Summer of 2012 they began working on their first full length album. Check out www.helixreign.com for more info and upcoming shows
- Hailing from the streets of NYC, ionia will once again make its way to the Rockapalooza stage to deliver a performance that will surely be remembered by the fans. ionia is a band of strength, dedication, and without compromise. Made up of five socially and economically conscious members they strive not only to deliver one hell of a rock performance but do so with integrity and a lyrical message that contains meaning and provokes thought. This is not just another cookie cutter rock band. ionia is one to watch out for. www.ioniamusic.com
- A rising star from a broken region, Fallen Captive brings a blue collar work ethic, blends it with melody and that never-give-up attitude that is synonymous with the city of Cleveland and heavy metal music. More than just a group of musicians, they’re brothers in arms. Playing a potent brand of metalcore with a slew of influences thrown in, they’re never content to rest on their laurels. Fallen Ca ptive is all about moving forward to take their music to the next level. With a dual lead guitar attack, booming bass, thundering drums and a hint of keyboards to offset the aggressive vocals, Fallen Captive is a force to be reckoned with and everyone should stand up and take notice. http://www.facebook.com/fallencaptive
- Ruled by Reason is a progressive metal band from Cleveland, Ohio. Combing sounds from Between the Buried and Me, In Flames, Mastodon, and August Burns Red, Ruled by Reason create a sound that is fresh and compelling in the modern music scene. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear Ruled by Reason!http://www.facebook.com/ruledbyreason
